One major bane in dog owners’ lives is that of keeping the home or apartment clean of dog hair and muddy paw-prints.

It is one of the hazards of owning your favorite pet, but it is not that much of a big deal if you plan on how to keep your house clean.

Replace your carpets with indoor-outdoor versatile rugs, which can be cleaned with a wet cloth. They are made sturdily for this very reason – they do not huge maintenance like lovely carpets that cost a fortune and a constant worry they will get ruined!

You can invest in a robotic, automatic vacuum cleaner that does all the cleaning for you, silently gliding all over the place. It will pick up all the hair shed by dogs and cats. You can also clean all the dirt created by the paws of pets.

The vacuum cleaner works on your behalf when you are sleeping or out for work. You will be able to program it to start and stop when you like.

Put on latex gloves and slide your hand along the sofa armrests and seat cushions. They pick up hair like magic. One wash under the tap, and they are good to go again.

Trim your dog’s nails

Trim your dog’s nails. Most animals loathe this but find out from your vet or pet store the best way of doing this, and it can be a quick and painless exercise. This will put an end to too-long nails causing scratching on your wooden floors – something you do not want if they are the very expensive wooden floors – and scratched upholstery.

If you have some terrific sofas and lounging chairs that have been handed down from your grandparents and are worth quite a bit, chuck some worn sheets over them. This will keep them clean, and the sheets can be cucked in the washer when dirty.

Your dogs love to sleep with you, but you are worried about dirty duvets and sheets, get an old blanket and put it at the end of the bed. If this is uncomfortable for you, get a big basket layered with blankets and soft cushions next to your bed and let your doggie sleep in there.

It is a great experience to play with your pet on the bed in the mornings. Just chuck an old blanket over the duvet before you invite your pal on the bed. It is best not to have your pet inside your bed unless you do not mind using a hand-held cleaner to suck up all the hair afterward!

Those unexpected accidents that doggies are prone to, always have a squirt-bottle of “magic cleaner” (or whatever your favorite is) on hand. Scatter two or three and some clothes around your house or apartment so you can easily clean up any mess you suddenly encounter.

The rimmed tray under food bowls

It is good to have a rimmed tray under your pets’ food bowls to capture any of the mess that normally happens at food time. A quick wash of the tray afterward will leave the area spotless.

Your pets should always be kept clean. A handy innovation in recent times is a traveling dog cleaner unit that cleans your pets in the back of the van. Your pets will emerge brand-new and smelling wonderful. Let us hope that they do not head for the nearest mud-heap and have a lovely roll!

Cats are not much of a menace. They should be brushed regularly. The counters in your kitchen must be wiped down constantly, as most cats are prone to wandering around in this area. It makes for good, hygienic workspaces when you are preparing meals.

When there’s rainy weather that sets in, keep a bowl of water, a cloth, and a towel on the stoop. Your pets can have their feet cleaned, and a good body rub before they enter the home. Ensure your sofa and bed are blanket-covered!
